CIBC Run for the Cure raises a record breaking $21 million 10/3/2005

October 2, 2005 - Canadians set two new records today. More than one million participants have now run or walked in the Canadian Breast Cancer CIBC Run for the Cure since it began in 1992. And, they’ve raised a record of over $21 plus million as of end of Run day at over 40 sites across the country in the largest single-day fundraising event for breast cancer in Canada. In Calgary 14,000 people participated in the run and $1,500,000 was raised.

Homes By Avi was proud to have once again participated in this fundraiser. They had two teams running this year, one in Calgary and another in Edmonton. Team "Avi Home Stretch" raised over $15,000 in pledges.

“ The remarkable participation and donations raised is a reflection of the importance that our staff and associates are putting on the need to find a cure for this terrible disease that effects so many of us." says Avi Amir.

Homes by Avi believes that there is a tangible return on investment inherit in corporate social responsibility, be it quality of life, enhanced productivity, improved financial performance or strategic advantage. We integrate our corporate activities with our local communities, customers, trades and suppliers. Homes by Avi has been able to build partnerships that provide innovative and sustainable solutions to meet community needs, in a way that benefits both the organizations and the people they serve. We believe that partnerships are crucial as no one company can address societal issues and more importantly, we can have a bigger impact by partnering with others.

The partnership with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation exemplifies outstanding leadership and dedication to community involvement. Implemented in June 2003, the partnership incorporates several different facets, featuring Homes by Avi’s involvement in the Foundation’s largest national annual fundraiser - the CIBC Run for the Cure, their contributions to breast cancer education and awareness and last, but certainly not least, the novel Home of Hope project, all of which demonstrate superior leadership and commitment to making a lasting community contribution.

The incredibly innovative Home of Hope project will result in Homes by Avi donating the net proceeds from the sale of two show homes, one in Copperfield and other in Meadowbrooke Ravines in Edmonton. The proceeds will be used by the Chapter to fund original breast cancer research and meaningful community projects. This unique partnership allows Homes by Avi to use their corporate expertise to support a charitable cause and make a difference in the lives of all Albertans, including all those who live in a Homes by Avi community or home.
